Closed-Loop Statistical Verification of Stochastic Nonlinear Systems Subject to Parametric Uncertainties

چکیده
This paper proposes a statistical verification framework using Gaussian processes (GPs) for simulationbased verification of stochastic nonlinear systems with parametric uncertainties. Given a small number of stochastic simulations, the proposed framework constructs a GP regression model and predicts the system’s performance over the entire set of possible uncertainties. Included in the framework is a new metric to estimate the confidence in those predictions based on the variance of the GP’s cumulative distribution function. This variance-based metric forms the basis of active sampling algorithms that aim to minimize prediction error through careful selection of simulations. In three case studies, the new active sampling algorithms demonstrate up to a 35% improvement in prediction error over other approaches and are able to correctly identify regions with low prediction confidence through the variance metric.

A Probabilistic Method for Nonlinear Robustness Analysis of F-16 Controllers
This paper presents a new framework for controller robustness verification with respect to F-16 aircraft’s closed-loop performance in longitudinal flight. We compare the state regulation performance of a linear quadratic regulator (LQR) and a gain-scheduled linear quadratic regulator (gsLQR), applied to nonlinear open-loop dynamics of F-16, in presence of stochastic initial condition and parame...
متن کاملAn Inexact-Fuzzy-Stochastic Optimization Model for a Closed Loop Supply Chain Network Design Problem
The development of optimization and mathematical models for closed loop supply chain (CLSC) design has attracted considerable interest over the past decades. However, the uncertainties that are inherent in the network design and the complex interactions among various uncertain parameters are challenging the capabilities of the developed tools. The aim of this paper, therefore, is to propose a n...

This paper addresses a closed-loop supply chain network design problem, in which two different supply chains compete on retail prices by defining a price-dependent demand function. So, the model is formulated in a bi-level stochastic form to demonstrate the Stackelberg competition and associated uncertainties more precisely. Moreover, it is capable of considering random disruptions in the leade...
متن کاملActive Sampling-based Binary Verification of Dynamical Systems
Nonlinear, adaptive, or otherwise complex control techniques are increasingly relied upon to ensure the safety of systems operating in uncertain environments. However, the nonlinearity of the resulting closed-loop system complicates verification that the system does in fact satisfy those requirements at all possible operating conditions. While analytical proof-based techniques and finite abstra...
متن کاملA New Near Optimal High Gain Controller For The Non-Minimum Phase Affine Nonlinear Systems
In this paper, a new analytical method to find a near-optimal high gain controller for the non-minimum phase affine nonlinear systems is introduced. This controller is derived based on the closed form solution of the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation associated with the cheap control problem. This methodology employs an algebraic equation with parametric coefficients for the systems with s...
